Our Story

BAKO Shuttle Services is a proudly South African, female-owned transport company built on legacy, trust, and service excellence.

Established in 2024 by Sphindiwe Khanyile, BAKO Shuttle Services continues a family journey that began over five decades ago in Pietermaritzburg. In the 1970s, her late father, Mr Bako Khanyile, launched a small shuttle operation with a single VW Kombi, transporting workers and scholars from KwaShange into the city. Through ethical business practices, reliability, and a strong commitment to community mobility, the business grew into a respected family-run enterprise providing staff transport to major retail centres across Pietermaritzburg.

Inspired by this entrepreneurial foundation, Sphindiwe Khanyile has transformed BAKO Shuttle Services into a professionally managed transport provider that meets the evolving needs of today’s corporate and tourism markets. While remaining grounded in its community-focused origins, the company now delivers safe, efficient, and dependable mobility solutions across KwaZulu-Natal.
